DOWNTOWN REDEVELOPMENT -- There is a great concern over the direction the city is heading, with respect to the redevelopment of Downtown Yorba Linda. The City Council must resolve this with the best interest of the residents in mind. Hank Wedaa is committed to this issue, and he can be trusted to further those efforts in a manner approved by you. HOUSING DENSITY -- In recent years, certain members of the City Council began approving the development of high-density housing. We need to revisit our city's low-density housing plan. Hank Wedaa is one of the original architects of Yorba Linda's General Plan for low-density development, and he promises to keep using it so that Yorba Linda will continue to have that "small-town" atmosphere for years to come. POWER PLANTS -- Hank Wedaa has become concerned about the proliferation of natural gas turbine power plants in Southern California, particularly those which are techologically very inefficient, and with pollution control systems which are not state-of-the-art. This is particularly troubling, considering that we need to improve efficiency to meet state-mandated reductions in greenhouse gases, improve air quality to prevent further deterioration of our health, as well as reduce wasteful energy use. Hank is involved professionally in this field, and he can be counted on to provide leadership on this issue. EQUESTRIAN CENTER -- Hank Wedaa has been a long-time supporter of an Equestrian Center in Yorba Linda. Unfortunately, he has been unsuccessful in lining up the three votes necessary to establish one. He now believes that there is support for the development of such a site, and that those three votes are available on the City Council. Hank is working expeditiously to achieve this goal. THE RAILROAD -- While many problems associated with noise and train whistles have been minimized, there are still issues related to the content of unguarded railroad cars parked along the rail lines in Yorba Linda. Also, there continues to be a concern about locomotives parked on the BNSF rail line along Esperanza Road, with their engines idling, for periods of up to 24 hours at a time. Hank Wedaa is still working with his contacts in the railroad to resolve this. CRIME -- In Yorba Linda, certain types of crime have been on the increase. The reasons for this must be examined and then discussed with the police department. Hank Wedaa is the right man for this task. TRAFFIC CONGESTION -- Traffic may be part of Southern California life, but there should be no need for it in Yorba Linda. New high-density housing developments both in town and in neighboring cities, such as the new 1300-unit development near Valencia Avenue & Imperial Highway in Brea, will contribute to an increase in the traffic congestion in town. As a skilled problem-solver, Hank Wedaa will seek a way to get our streets flowing smoothly again. THE MUNICIPAL BUDGET -- Hank Wedaa has garnered a reputation as a fiscal conservative, and as such, he has been mindful of how the city spends its money. Taxpayer dollars must be used with discretion, and Hank has always been a guardian of your public dollars, and he will continue to be that guardian. CITY MANAGEMENT -- There has been growing concern about Yorba Linda having too many city employees. Hank Wedaa believes in employee efficiency. He is an advocate of cross-training city employees, whom he believes have the intelligence and capability to multitask at certain occupations.

Simply put, it means that Hank Wedaa will work to ensure that our city, with its annual budget of about $87,000,000, is run by professionals, with an oversight by experienced and competent City Council members.
